Inner Harbour

The land surrounding Owen Sound harbour that is owned by Transport Canada (TC) has been subject to a comprehensive site investigation program. Part of the site investigation process has been a completion of a site-specific Risk Assessment to Provincial standards. The final land use assumed for the TC lands is primarily parkland, with commercial (due to existing snack bar) around the existing boat launch.

Limited soil impacts and minimal groundwater impacts are still present on the site. However, with the implementation of a suitable risk management plan, they also meet or are below the risk assessment standards for the site. Currently, the owner and their consulting team are in the process of seeking approval of the risk assessment for the site, as required under Ontario Regulation 153/04, with the Ontario Ministry of Environment.
